Graduated from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology Farrier Program in 1986 and then apprenticed for 3 yrs then 2 more years part time while he established his own clientele. He is certified through the American Farriers Association, became one of the first and only Canadian farriers to become FITS (Farrier International Testing System, a therapeutic based certification) certified in 2017 and was also licensed by the Ontario Racing Commission. Successfully competed in international farrier competitions for many years.
Steve has shod Olympic jumper and dressage horses as well as numerous World Championship and International competition horses of various disciplines including English, Western, race, endurance and gaited horses. He had an academic paper on Equine Heel Pain (based on his ongoing research) published December 2019, another "Understanding and Managing Asymmetric hooves...a whole horse approach" to be published December 2021 and is continuing his research to cover "Hind End Solutions for Front End Problems" (to develop hind end protocols to address front end lameness issues). Steve is regularly referred to by veterinarians to work on and/or consult on therapeutic cases.
